Term Update – September 2018

Hello all,

We have been busy settling back into school and everyone has been getting used to their new classes, new teachers and new routines. The curriculum is in full swing and pupils are enjoying a range of opportunities across the school!

We have already had a parent/carer teacher consultation to discuss targets for the year and had a great turnout of 85%. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it and to all of our support staff who gave up their time to provide childcare facilities during appointments.

As well as our usual classroom activities, we have been getting out and about, putting St. Crispin’s on the map! All of our primary classes are participating in visits to the Yard. Secondary pupils are enjoying exploring the autumn in Outdoor Education with Mairi. The gardens are full of fruit: all classes have been picking apples and plums and making jam and baked goods.

Silver Class had a visit from the Holyrood Park Rangers and were learning about life in old Edinburgh. Gold Class have started their busy transition programme and are enjoying weekly sessions at Music for All, as well as visits from Edinburgh College. Pupils across the school are participating in yoga and we had a lovely visit from our pets as therapy friends, Ollie and Susan.

In Music, pupils have been enjoying using our new sub-pacs with Di. We have received some of our new bikes and they are being put to the test in the playground by a group of willing volunteers! The Lyceum Project and Inspire Drama start next week and our senior classes will be visiting ABC bikes for weekly sessions as part of their SQA and ASDAN awards. Below are some photos of the new term getting off to a great start. Check back soon for more updates!
